what: book design
for: research

Life as an academic can be challenging, especially in the battle against electronic devices for the attention of our student audience. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and others all work together to join students with their peers, regardless of location or physical proximity. These sites tend to become distractions within the classroom setting, however, establishing competition between themselves and the instructor.

But what if the classroom could learn from these student distractions? What if we could harness the structure of social media to teach lessons quickly, easily, and more dynamically than we can in the traditional lecture-based environment?

txt3ooks is a series of books which examine the potential of this outlet as a teaching tool and structure. Using the visual vernacular of academia, likening students to Barbies and education to apple pie, this series investigates just what it could mean to look beyond stereotypes at just how students might really learn using channels they already love.
